9 June 2009: New Training Partner and weathering the Kansas storms

Sitting waiting for another storm to pass - at least I am hoping it is going to pass as I really want to get out running. The storms have been rumbling around for most of the day here and quite severe (hail, winds, heavy rains) looking at some of the warnings that have been issued. The day started bright and sunny and we got a good swim in before there were any indications of anything other than a clear sunny day. Luckily we were not hit by some of the bigger hail storms that were circling around. I really should have closed the windows though. I guess that is Kansas weather!!!! Just hoping though it is not going to be like that on race day here - last year storms rolled in early and some racers had to be pulled from the course. Not the early finish they were hoping for. Today though it is looking like a bit of a wet run - so might skip the ipod and just take my new best training partner with me. That is my Garmin Forerunner 310XT. I love this thing!! I have been using a Forerunner for several years now but this latest model is by far the best I think. It is intuitive, works every time and gives me more information about where, when and how I am running than is perhaps healthy for any girl. Although I am still trying to figure out the Virtual Partner who appeared mid run on my screen last time and then apparently went on to crush me by 17 minutes and be several miles down the road. Guess I should have run faster.......
